Case Strategy

We have noticed more and more of our new members and clients don't know what a case strategy is. For those who have'nt received professional advice before, it is very simple.

A case strategy tells the person receiving professional advice about:

Points Test

the points required before the Department will consider an Expression Of Interest (EOI) increases from 60 to 65 points on July 1 2018. If you have received an invitation prior to this date your invitation remains valid, as does any application you hae submitted before the change.

Global Talent Scheme

Pilot program launched

The Global Tallent Scheme Visa is essentially an addition to the labour agreement stream for the 482 TSS visa. The Department currently say this visa has quicker processing time and may lead to permanent residency after three years, however employers should remember this is a pilot prgram. This means the Department policy, rules and regulations are still being 'tested'.

There are two streams, however the GTS is only for employers who cannot find Australian workers and who cannot utilise existing migration schemes, such as the 482 2 or 4 year program.

482 Time of Application Skills Assessment

It used to be policy, now it's a time of application criteria. This means if you are on a specified occupation list, are in a particular 'class' of persons and are not exempt, you will need to have at least applied for a skills assessment when you lodge the subclass 482 Visa application.

If you hold a skills assessment for the correct nominated occupation from within the last 3 years, you're fine, but not if the skills assessment you applied for at time of application does not come back as positive (if the assessing authority says you don't have the skills).
